We are a Bumble success story! (feel free to sponsor us, Bumble) Kayla was in the middle of a very rare break inCRNA school and Graham had just moved to DFW, and the match was made.Our first date was at Mexican Sugar in Las Colinas, followed by Kayla immediately needing to get gas and realizing she left her wallet at home (classic). Graham followed her to the gas station, pumped and paid for the gas, and the rest is history.Graham somehow survived the perils and mood swings of Kayla finishing CRNA school and proposed in Maui on her graduation trip. Now we are getting married there, one of our favorite places, and cannot wait to see where this adventure takes us.We are so excited to celebrate with you all!

These girls come from all different walks of life! Some were met in the beginning (when I was still emo lol) some were met in the throes of CRNA school, but they’ve all stuck with me in their own way. Some I’ve known forever, some showed up exactly when I needed them, and all of them have made my life infinitely better. I feel like the luckiest bride in the world to have these women standing by my side on the best day ever!

What is beach formal?

Beach formal attire is an elegant yet comfortable dress code that blends traditional formality with the relaxed setting of a beach. For women, this can include floor-length gowns, maxi or midi dresses in light and airy fabrics, and elegant jumpsuits, while men can wear a suit or a linen/seersucker suit with a dress shirt and slacks. No jeans, flip flops, or hawaiian shirts please!

Location

Our wedding festivities will take place on the west side of Maui, in the Kaanapali area.

Nearest Airport

Kahului Airport (OGG) Located about 45 minutes from Kaanapali.

Transportation

Rental Cars: We highly recommend renting a car for your stay - it's the easiest way to get around. Rideshares: Uber and Lyft are available on Maui, but may be limited in certain areas. Shuttle Services: Some hotels in Kaanapali offer airport shuttle services! Please check with your hotel directly. Wedding day transportation will be provided to and from the venue! On the wedding day, there will be a shuttle service provided. For those who wish to ride, we will meet at a centralized location in Whaler's Village. The shuttle service will return to Whaler's Village after the reception. Further details to come.

Where to Stay

There are multiple ways to stay in Maui, depending on your preference. You can rent a vacation home/condo through VRBO/AirBNB or stay at any of the many resort/hotel options available in Kaanapali. We personally will be renting a condo through VRBO at the Kaanapali Alii Resort. For our hotel seekers, the Westin Maui is right next door. Many of our guests have found that the Outrigger Kaanapali Beach Resort is affordable and a 15 minute walk from the central hub of Kaanapali. (At the recommendation of our planner, at this time we will not be doing a room block. If interest towards one particular hotel increases then we will do what we can to look into it!) A few miles north in the Kapalua area you may find more affordable options. This area is a short drive to Kaanapali if this option serves your needs better. If anyone needs help finding a place to stay, please feel free to call the bride's mom, Stacey Almquist (719) 650-1039!

Maui Must Sees

Watch the sun rise or set above the clouds at the Haleakala National Park. Requires advance reservations.

Haleakalā Sunrise

A scenic drive filled with waterfalls, lush rainforests, black sand beaches, and breathtaking coastal views. Plan for a full day and plenty of stops. The drive is over 64 miles and includes 600+ turns and often is a one lane highway; proceed at your own risk or book a tour!

Road to Hana

Snorkel or scuba dive the crystal-clear waters at this iconic volcanic crater, home to vibrant marine life and coral reefs.

Let's Eat! 

Mama's Fish House is&nbsp;an iconic, high-end, family-owned restaurant located on the North Shore of Maui, near Paia, renowned for serving ultra-fresh seafood caught daily by local fishermen. We went here for my graduation celebration and remember it being one of the best meals of the trip. (I thought Graham was going to propose after dinner on the idyllic beaches that the property sits on, but he did not lol) Definitely will need reservations!

Mama's Fish House

One of our favorite restaurants on the island! While Mama's is on the north shore, Merriman's is on the west side of Maui where we will all be staying. It is also upscale and requires reservations, but usually not 6 months to a year in advance like Mama's. We love this place so much it was a high wedding venue contender, but alas went with Olowalu after seeing the grounds.

Merriman's Kapalua

Originally an oceanfront poolside amenity for the Napili Shores Resort, The Gazebo is now a cherished dining establishment since its transformation into a restaurant. We do not go to Maui and miss a trip to The Gazebo. The views are almost as incredible as their macadamia nut pancakes and spam fried rice. Graham even wakes up early for this one! Make sure you get in line early prior to opening or you will be waiting for a longgggg time.
